Miscellany

This is just kind of a catch-all post, with no real unifying theme...

I. Detroit Auto Show

Another check on my list of things to do before I leave Michigan. I've about covered it by now. If you can think of anything I may have missed, let me know, because I may not have much longer.

I am not a big car person, but I'm glad I went. I had to ask some of the people I went with to tell me what I should take pictures of because I don't know what the cool cars are. The Ford Fiesta is for my dad because of the color, and the Ferrari is also for my dad because he likes to sing about red Ferraris, and the Range Rover is for my sister. The Mustang and the Fusion and the truck (I can't remember the name, sorry) are because Brady said I should take pictures of those. He also works for Ford. My favorite car, though, was the orange 1972 BMW Elektro-Antrieb. I'm a bit behind the times.

II. Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball Recipe (by request)

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
3/4 to 1 cup powdered sugar
zest of one orange
3/4 cup mini chocolate chips
toffee bits, chopped pecans, or any kind of crushed candy bar

Cream the cheese (ha!) with an electric mixer, then add powdered sugar and mix until fluffy. Stir in orange zest and chocolate chips. Shape into a ball and roll in toffee bits, pecans, or crushed candy bar (I used Heath bits). Serve with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, or chocolate graham crackers.

(P.S. There is now a permalink to my cookie recipe on the sidebar.)

III. New on the Book Blog

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (in which I make amends for my failed Jane Austin experiment) and Born to Run by Christopher McDougall (in which I decide it might be time to shuck the stability shoes and run barefoot)

It looks like most the guys were looking at the model more than the Ferraris...cant blame them.

I'm with you--I like the old orange car best.

Wish we would have made it out one year to the car show while you were there--but the aversion to winter travel to those parts was just too much.
