I am feeling great right now!
I just want to say that while it lasts. As I walked to campus, I just couldn’t stop thinking about how wonderful I felt.
I got up around six this morning and headed out for an early morning run. It started out normal enough, but as the morning grew lighter I felt better and better, and when I got within a mile of home I was feeling so good that I turned right instead of left and added an extra mile and a half to my usual six miles just because it seemed a waste to cut such an amazing run short.
The weather was beautiful—the temperature sign at Brigham’s Landing said 47 degrees and I probably could have gotten away with wearing shorts (shorts!), although I was grateful for long sleeves. And it was overcast, too. That’s the best time to run, especially when the clouds are hanging low in the sky, and when there’s just a little bit of drizzle. I did my first marathon-training long run on Saturday (12 miles), and yet I still had more energy than I’ve had on any run for several weeks at least, and I felt like my energy increased instead of decreased as the run went on. I probably could have gone a mile or two past my eventual stopping point, but I had to get on with my day.
I’ve been back for nearly two hours now, and I’m still on a runner’s high. It’s great! I am feeling optimistic and cheerful and ready to be productive, and I just know it’s going to be a good day.
I just had to tell someone :).
